Pet Peeve

I am currently in the middle of writing my final for one of my classes (my final is a two-part essay...we didn't have any exams in this class, they were all essays, which is absolutely fine with me...I'm pretty sure I've done better on them than I would have done on an exam) and I had to pause to rant really quickly.

We all know how people from England or Canada or other places spell words like "colour" or "theatre" or use words like "maths" instead of how we spell "math." It bothers me to no end when people not from those countries spell words like that. To me, it just seems arrogant. Who do you people think you are? You're not from those places, you're from America! Stop being posers!

I was reading one of my textbooks, and the book itself was written by my professor, and he spells like that. And I know he's not from England. He's from California. Seriously dude? Wow.

That may have been a spiteful, not-tolerant-at-all-rant post, but whatever. It's finals week. I was bothered by that, and decided to blog about it. Meh.

I totally agree! I have a friend that does that.

I've NEVER met a person from the US who did that. Seriously? The reason Webster did this was because of the whole separate from England thing, and here are these people trying to bring it back! WTF?

I don't mind the colour one because in art anything goes, but I have been spelling fairy as faery lately but anyone can wanna be a magical creature i say!!! Otherwise I SO agree!

Haha, I say that's cool, Wendy. I'm pretty sure it was the maths one that really got me from the book I was reading by my professor.

Maybe he thinks it makes him look smarter? I would have thought he had a typo. Maybe you should go tell him that and see what he says. hehe

I say theatre when I am talking about plays and stuff, and theater when I am talking about the movies. Ferrin taught me that in tenth grade. i thought everyone knew that.

I reiterate what I said up there, but I'm not done being mad at 2009 Whitney for what she said in the last post.
