beehive state

you know, utah, when these people down here in p-town who are only here for school start talking trash on you, i defend you. i've lived in utah all my life, and i've been pretty okay with what you've had to offer (four seasons, for one thing).

when you snow in april, i just laugh at how naive so many people on campus were. welcome to utah, i would say.

then today, you did this.

and i was less than pleased.

today, i'm not going to defend you.
i'm gonna be hatin' with all the other haters.

my feet. completely slushed over.

and the snowball bushes. with real snow on them.

although i will admit, the contrast between the bright green and the stark white is [dare i say it]

beautiful.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

I love snow. I absolutely love it. When it snows, it just makes it feel like Christmas. There's something completely (allow me my cheesy moment) magical (thank you) about snow, in the way there's so much suspense that hangs in the air prior to a storm. You can just feel it. At least I can. Maybe because I like it so much.

The world seems so much more peaceful when it's blanketed by snow. Everything's softer, and even ugly, naked trees that have no leaves on them anymore look kind of pretty. And at night time! Whoa. The sky is like, purple when it's snowing. Pretty freakin' rad.

I just love snow. It keeps life interesting.

I just don't like driving in it. That's scary stuff. Last year, I was driving to an early morning practice for a Christmas assembly at my high school, and I misjudged the distance I needed to break and turn...I ended up facing traffic in the turning lane, and it was *terrifying*. Holy crap. Totally messed up my frame, too. There went $400 down the drain. Blah.

And I also don't like snow after probably January 31st...by that point, I'm ready for warm weather. The snow in the streets just looks like roadkill, so it's not even that pretty anymore.

But at Christmastime....it's the best.

Synopsis of My Life At This Point....

Basically, it's a Sunday and as much as I love watching Gilmore Girls reruns all day, I was getting into one of those dazes and needed to do something other than sit on my bed. So, my mom showed me our family blog yesterday, and it just seemed like the opportune time to start my own! Woo. This picture is just a picture of me from a couple summers ago and was the only decent one I could find. It looks kind of silly. I look like I'm throwing some sassy look at the camera, and honestly, that's not really how I roll. But I didn't look like a complete idiot, so there it is. :)

So....my life at this point in time....graduation in a few months (scary!) and BYU within the next six months (even scarier!). I'm not going to lie, growing up is not something I'm looking forward to. I know it will be good, and those closest to me I'll keep in contact with, but even still, not something that floats my boat. I've never been one for change.

Anyways...not much goin' on right now. The weather's been awful the past couple of days and I'm definitely ready for the nice weather to come back. It's like Mother Nature gave us a few days of beautiful weather and then said, "Ha! Just kidding! Here's more snow." That's basically my summation of it. Sorry if this is ridiculously boring....I'm not entirely sure what I should or shouldn't be putting in a "blog" (the word makes me feel odd....I can't believe that I, Kayleigh Skinner, a technological moron, actually started a blog). I'm sure I'll update with more exciting things than weather and fears of growing up as the week continues.
