today is dr. seuss's birthday. it is still a mystery as to how i remember this without having to look it up on the interwebs, but there it is.
i live in a basement apartment, which means a couple of different things. the first being that there are (were) lots of spiders. there was even one on the side of our house that i'd pass everyday in his web. i came close to naming him, but you don't ultimately name things you're going to (for lack of better words) obliterate. after doing some research as to how to get rid of them and after a few close encounters our first month of marriage, parker made the call to the exterminator. (it was either an exterminator or get a cat, and we can barely take care of ourselves let alone another animal. we will be great parents).
$50 later (the BEST $50 i have ever spent. no joke.) we were spider free. well, kind of. there were spider carcasses that we'd occasionally find on the middle of the floor because they had hit the poison and staggered out there to die.
i have no sympathy for them.
anyway, the second thing that it means is that i rarely, if ever, see sunlight. we have a total of five windows in our 600 square feet of luxury and they're all at the top two feet of the wall. i never open these windows, because not much sun comes in them anyway, and i had seen more than my fair share of spider webs by the windows, so i wasn't risking my piece of mind for some vitamin d.
i recently quit my job to finish up my last online class, so i pretty much sit at this computer for 8 hours every day in my sunless apartment. i never get human contact. unless i venture out to the store to get groceries and whatnot (or, in yesterday's case, ringworm cream. yes, i have RINGWORM on my arm from my cast and brace...sick. only dogs and wrestlers get ringworm. how embarrassing.)
this is my long way of saying i need to get outside and away from my computer, so i'm off to take a walk. au revoir.

come a long way, baby.
i'm sitting here. my apartment is messy because i'm an art major and paint everything everywhere. (mostly i paint on the couch when i'm watching endless episodes of the office. a dangerous feat, perhaps, but for what regency's put me through, they deserve paint on their couch.)
it should seem weird to me that this is the last monday i will ever be in an apartment like this with four other roommates. that i just spent my last sunday in a singles ward (hallelujah forever). that my last fnal is wednesday and i'm procrastinating like crazy to go finish the project for it. it doesn't seem weird, though. to be honest, i'm excited.
i hate change. people who know me know that change usually brings lots of tears and irrational behavior. they know that i set my mind to hating the change and the people involved with it until i'm dead in my grave and beyond. that's how much i hate change and endings. i watched the series finale of that '70s show (and i had probably only seen two episodes total of that series) and i cried. that is how much i hate change and endings.
but this one? i'm pretty excited.
i get to live with my family one last time before i become permanent roommates with this guy.
i get to marry him. in the temple.
i get to work on my art.
i get to have new adventures. crazy scary at times, but the fact that my best friend (the one who lets me make weird noises in public and who lets me be irrational) will be with me makes it better.
now if you'll excuse me, i need to go get ready so i can finish my project.

it's a miracle. (more than one.)
i'm back.
hopefully not temporarily. turns out being angsty and mad at the world/boys (a.k.a. last year) makes for better posts and me wanting to get my feelings out via the internets. but now that i'm not angsty or mad at the world/boys, maybe my inspiration is gone?
nah. i've got inspiration. i just feel silly talking consistently about how much i love a boy. :)
the boy who gave me this ring.
