friday, lucky may 13th.

i just clicked onto my blog and for whatever reason, my post yesterday is gone.

i was seriously convinced for about two minutes that yesterday never happened.
welcome to the twilight zone.

in other news:
i built stairs the other day.
(that was on my updated post yesterday, but since may 12th apparently didn't happen on the internet, you get to hear it today. and see a picture.)

yeah. i did that.

i also love dandelions. not generally, but when they're in a field and the sun is perfect and pj and i have randomly pulled into a senior center parking lot because i've finished teaching him how to drive stick shift, then i love them.

i also love them when we're walking down 1st east and they're scattered in the grass.
because then i get to make a wish.
and then pj takes an oh-so-lovely picture of me making said wish.
(which i am now posting for the world to see. that's cool.)

my wish today: many more sunny skies and love love love.
(mostly because whit leigh is getting married. and i'm going to a reception tonight. and hota hota is getting married. the list is getting long.)

title

i love mornings.

they remind me of des boulangeries in france and road trips.
of wet grass and knowing that there's more to the day than you've already experienced.

i also love the fireworks of flowers at the temple,
but that is possibly unrelated to mornings.

(they're still great anyway.)

daisies are the friendliest [and most magical] flower.

i took this picture this morning at the table.
i was eating malt-o-meal with brown sugar.
[there may have been dancing
around to a love story. with my ginger, bien sûr .]

fireflies and hydrangeas

a shack outside the back window.
it was raining.

i'm not sure where the east coast specifically the virginia/dc area has been all my life. it's like the first time i went to paris. i couldn't believe that such a secret had been kept from me. the cobbled streets, the architecture, how incredibly remarkable the eiffel tower is.

that's how i'm feeling about dc right now.

i was arrested by humidity the second i walked outside. and then i was overcome by the man trying to get us to take a shuttle instead of a taxi. we took the taxi instead.

pretty sure we passed the pentagon on the way to where we're staying.
also pretty sure i lost a year of my life on that taxi ride. not that he was scary. i'm just paranoid. and totally from utah. not used to riding in a taxi with a strange man at the wheel.

the man ended up being a tender mercy.
we didn't know where we were going, and he didn't either. he was patient as we drove around town until our friend called us. then he knocked off some of the charge for the baggage. bless him.

and then there were the hydrangeas. i remembered france. there was a yard where there were pink ones and blue ones and purple ones.

they're my favorite.

and i saw a firefly for the first time. right by the abandoned iron on the lawn in the park that reminded me of my second home in england.

oh dc. where have you been all my life.
